Westmeath is known as the ‘Lake County’ so it makes sense we would provide opportunities for people to enjoy the wonderful natural amenities across the county through water sports.
We run a variety of water sports’ programmes for people of all ages and abilities. Normally, they take place in the summer and autumn when the water has had a chance to warm up. It also means you get to enjoy some spectacular sunsets across the county.
Women On The Water Level 1 and Level 2.
Ladies get the opportunity to learn new skills and explore the waterways around Co. Westmeath.
As the group get comfortable in the kayaks, the meeting point changes to explore and paddle different lakes.

Summer Camps
We provide summer camps for target groups during school holidays. We work with our target groups to provide stand up paddling and kayaking.
Open to all, summer camps are held in different locations each summer. This provides children with an opportunity to try something new and have fun.
Target Groups
- Residents of Direct Provision Centres
- Youth Reach
- Family Resource Centres
Programmes are tailored to suit the needs of the individual groups.

Lads And Dads
This September we are running a four-week Learn to Kayak Course for Lads & Dads in Mullingar and Athlone.
This course is for males aged 18+ who want to learn kayaking and paddle skills in a relaxed, social and fun environment. The aim is for participants to be introduced to a new water-based activity within the beautiful outdoors.
Participants who complete this course can gain the Canoe Ireland Level 1 in Kayaking Skills certification.
The course is now full but keep an eye on our website or social media channels for further updates or opportunities to enjoy the water amenities we have in Co.Westmeath.
