Ready To Go Orienteering

Ready To Go Orienteering

Under the Community Sports and Sports Inclusion Development Programmes, facilitated by Westmeath Sports Partnership, the Sports Partnership can offer the Ready to Go training course suitable to teachers, service provider staff, youth workers and coaches to attend.

Ready to Go Orienteering is an Orienteering Ireland initiative to introduce and promote the sport to schools, disability services and youth organisations. The aim of the course is to train staff with the necessary skills to teach the fundamentals of the sport to their students, service users and participants by upskilling course attendees to:

***Introduce the skills of orienteering in a fun and exciting way***

***For school staff to identify where orienteering can be introduced to the school curriculum***

***Use of games and activity cards to progress participants knowledge and skill set***

On completion of the Ready to Go Course, attending schools, service providers and youth organisations will receive a resource pack consisting of games cards, simple maps and orienteering controls. Online resources will also be provided which can be downloaded and printed. Mapping of a facility is an additional cost.

If you would like to try out orienteering at any of three mapped locations in Co. Westmeath, you can find details, including locations and downloadable maps here
