A new app for mobile phones has been recently launched aimed at making it easier to find accessible amenities and activities for people all across Ireland.
Able Active is available to download for both Android and iPhone users and relies on its users interacting with the app and relaying up to date information for people facing accessibility challenges.
Users can access a integrated map of Ireland which details a rating for accessibility at amenities or trails which can allow people and their families to plan in confidence a day out or an activity.
Some of the information available at mapped locations includes provision of accessible toilets and parking, surfaces, obstacles, inclines and declines.
Crucially, because we live in Ireland after all, the app has also a built-in weather function which will allow users to see if they should pack their bags for sunshine or showers, or something in-between!
Able Active is free to download and is fully featured for all users. If you create an account, it is suggested that a subscription of €15 per year is paid.
