National Play Day 2026

Westmeath County Council, in partnership with Westmeath Community Development (WCD), Westmeath Sports Partnership (WSP), the WCC STEM Officer, the Local Authority Integration Team (LAIT), and Westmeath PPN, is absolutely delighted to invite you to our National Play Day 2026 celebration!

Join us for a fantastic, action-packed morning where families can come together to enjoy the great outdoors, learn new skills, and most importantly, play!

Admission: FREE (Open to all members of the community)

What’s Happening on the Day?

We are bringing a full festive atmosphere straight to the heart of the park! The morning will feature an incredible lineup of interactive entertainment, sports, and learning opportunities, including:

• Festive Vibes: A live DJ playing music throughout the morning, alongside professional face painters and circus skills entertainers.
• STEM & Robotics: The WCC STEM Officer will be showcasing Vex Robotics, offering children a hands-on opportunity to test out their coding and engineering skills.
• Try a New Sport: Energetic sports sessions and fun games will be running, including an introductory karate class!
• Park Amenities: Take full advantage of Mullingar Town Park’s excellent permanent facilities, including multiple playgrounds suitable for all age groups and the local skate park for older kids and teens.

Accessible & Sensory-Friendly

We want to ensure every child gets to experience the joy of National Play Day. A dedicated soft play and sensory area will be available on-site for any families who wish to avail of a calmer, structured play space.

Pack a Picnic!

Families are highly encouraged to bring along a picnic, blankets, and treats. Come down to spend quality time together, sing, laugh, and soak up the summer fun in one of Westmeath’s most beautiful green spaces.
