Westmeath Sports Partnership is delighted to confirm the successful clubs and groups who will receive funding under the 2024 Volunteer Support Programme (VSP).

The funding is provided to Westmeath Sports Partnership via Sport Ireland through a successful application to the Dormant Accounts Fund.

In total a sum of €24,776.88 is to be shared among thirty-three clubs with funding ranging from €500 to €1,000 for a variety of training and educational courses and initiatives.

A record number of applications were received by the submission deadline of May 27 from clubs and local community groups who wished to upskill their members and volunteers.

The Volunteer Support Programme isn’t just about funding—it’s about fostering leadership. We want more people to play an active role in shaping sports and physical activity in our neighborhoods. By upskilling coaches and volunteers, we’re creating a ripple effect that reaches every corner of our community.

The Volunteer Support Programme aims to increase the number of people playing a leadership role in developing sports and physical activity in their communities. It also aims to support clubs in upskilling new and existing coaches and volunteers to increase participation in sport and physical activity.

The VSP also prioritises the work done by groups and clubs in RAPID areas of Mullingar and Athlone and we are delighted to be supporting several groups again who work with communities in these areas.

Westmeath Sports Partnership, in association with Sport Ireland and the Dormant Accounts Fund, wishes to thank all the clubs and organisations who applied to the Volunteer Support Programme this year.

We also wish to express our gratitude to all the volunteers, members, and leaders within each sports club for their dedication to the promotion of sport and recreation and physical activity for all ages and abilities in our community.
