DESCRIPTION:  \nThis Easter mid-term\, Westmeath Sports Partnership is providing the opportunity to come and try orienteering at the Mullingar Town Park on Thursday 4th April from 11am-1pm. \nA trained tutor will be on hand to guide you through the steps of both standard orienteering using MapRun6 (with accessible courses available) and also Photo Orienteering (suitable for younger kids and those with additional needs). \nOrienteering is a sport that combines physical activity with navigation\, challenging both the body and the mind. It is a sport that can be enjoyed by groups of families\, friends or as individuals and is very accessible for all ages and abilities. \nIf you are attending as a family or group\, just one member needs to register; however\, you will be asked how many is within your family or group. \nCost of registration is €5 per family/group but this will be refunded upon attendance. \nMapRun: MapRun is an orienteering application that gives access to the maps on your mobile device and we recommend downloading this if attending. \nFor any queries on this event please contact cian.fogarty@westmeathcoco.ie

DESCRIPTION:All Coaches\, Club Children’s Officers (CCO) and Designated Liaison Persons (DLP) must first complete the 3 hour Child Welfare & Protection Basic Awareness Workshop.  \nThis workshop educates participants on the implementation of best practice in safeguarding the welfare of children involved in sport. \nThe online Safeguarding 1 Workshop is an interactive course which requires participants to have : \n  \n*Good internet connection to allow you to have a video / take part in group discussion.\n\n \n  \n*Access to email – Zoom link and course materials will be sent out to participants prior to course date in word and PDF. \n \n  \nTo gain accreditation\, it is essential to complete the whole course. \n \nPlease beware : \n  \nThis course is for Over 18’s ONLY – MAXIMUM 2 persons per club/sports organisation. \n \n  \nEach participant must have their own individual Zoom connection. Cycling Ireland Ride Leader training will provide leaders with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively lead and manage a group of cyclists on the road in club/group rides. \nThe course will explore the roles and responsibilities the Ride Leader will assume and prepare learners as Ride Leaders to provide safe and enjoyable cycling experiences for people of all levels of ability and age. \nThis course is open to Westmeath Sports Partnership tutors\, members of Westmeath cycling clubs or any keen cyclist with an interest in becoming a ride leader. This will include seated routines. \nStep to the Beat explores a series of short\, simple\, social folk dance from different parts of the world. Easy to learn-easy to teach. \nSocial target Games explores a number of simple\, sociable\, target games suitable for indoor venues ( e.g. Frisbee\, Scooch\, Boccia\, Flisk). \nAttendee’s must be able to attend all 3 workshops. DESCRIPTION:**This event is now sold out** (If you wish to add your name to the waiting list\, please click the Eventbrite link below) \n\n\nTo celebrate Halloween 2023\, Westmeath Sports Partnership invites you to the Hill of Uisneach to explore the sacred centre of Ireland\, and immerse yourself in the culture\, the history and mythology of Uisneach.\nThe event takes place on Saturday 28th October 2023\, beginning at 12pm. The walk/tour will last approximately 1.5 hours. The distance is around 3km in total\, and although is easy/moderate\, it could possibly involve some rugged ground so some level of fitness will be required. \nPlease ensure appropriate footwear and clothing are worn as the walk will go ahead in most weather conditions\, unless there is a weather warning. \nThe walk will be led by expert guides with some highlights including; the Royal Palace\, Lough Lugh\, St Patrick’s Bed (The Summit) and Ail na Mireann (Stone of the Divisions). \nThe cost per adult or youth aged over 12 is €5. DESCRIPTION:Safeguarding 1 –  Child Welfare & Protection Basic Awareness\nAll Coaches\, Club Children’s Officers (CCO) and Designated Liaison Persons (DLP) must first complete the 3 hour Child Welfare & Protection Basic Awareness Workshop.  \nThis workshop educates participants on the implementation of best practice in safeguarding the welfare of children involved in sport \nThe online Safeguarding 1 Workshop is an interactive course which requires participants to have : \n\nGood internet connection to allow you to have a video / take part in group discussion\nAccess to email – Zoom link and course materials will be sent out to participants prior to course date in word and PDF.\n\n\nTo gain accreditation\, it is essential to complete the whole course\n\nPlease beware : \n\nThis course is for Over 18’s ONLY – MAXIMUM 2 persons per club/sports organisation\n\n\nEach participant must have their own individual Zoom connection.
