DESCRIPTION:EduFIT\, in partnership with Westmeath Sports Partnership and Sport Ireland\, are delighted to invite you a FREE 60-minute online evidence-based health education masterclass on ‘Sport & The Female Menstrual Cycle’ with Dr Kiera Ward (Exercise Physiologist\, Sports Scientist\, and Health Researcher) and Ruth Kavanagh\, MSc. ANutr.  \n\n\n\nThis online masterclass will take place live on Zoom on Monday 22nd September from 7.00-8.00pm (including Q&A). This masterclass will be recorded and the recording will be emailed to everyone who has signed up for the masterclass. Take-home resources will also be provided.  \n\n\n\nIn this masterclass\, you will learn about training\, nutrition\, recovery and wellbeing with special considerations related to the menstrual cycle. We’re delighted to announce our first-ever Orienteering MapRun Challenge\, and it’s just the ticket for some August adventures. \n\n\n\nIn case you didn’t know\, orienteering is a brilliant way to get out and about\, have fun\, and really get to know some of the most beautiful and unique areas of County Westmeath. It’s a challenge that’s a bit different\, gets the brain working\, and the legs moving! \n\n\n\nA Challenge For All Ages And Abilities\n\n\n\nOrienteering isn’t just about running; it’s about navigating\, exploring\, and having a good old time in the fresh air so it’s suitable for parents and children. Also\, the great thing about this challenge is that you can do it in several locations across the county. \n\n\n\n\nMullingar Town Park\n\n\n\nDún na Sí Amenity Park Moate\n\n\n\nAthlone Regional Sports Centre\n\n\n\nBurgess Park\n\n\n\nEach spot offers something unique\, so you’ll be seeing your local area with new eyes\n\n\n\n\nWhat Do You Have To Do\n\n\n\nAll the courses are completely FREE and accessible via the MapRun application. Just download it from your app store ( Google or Apple)\, set up your profile\, and you’re good to go. There is an explainer on how to use MapRun further down this page. \n\n\n\nYou can choose from test\, short\, medium\, or long\, and even accessible routes and you can attempt them as many times as you like\, at whatever pace suits you! \n\n\n\nOoh\, Prizes!\n\n\n\nAh\, now we’re talking! Participants who complete this course will gain the Canoe Ireland Level 1 in Kayaking Skills certification. \n\n\n\nCost of registration is €50 but participants will be refunded €5 per session attended (** see note below). \n\n\n\nYou do not need to be a strong swimmer to participate in this course but you should feel comfortable in water with a buoyancy aid. \n\n\n\nAs there will be limited changing facilities\, we advise arriving as ready to go as possible. DESCRIPTION:Westmeath Sports Partnership and Midlands LGBT+ Project are collaborating to offer members living in Westmeath the opportunity to experience the thrill of beginner Stand Up Paddle Boarding on Lough Ennel this summer! \n\n\n\n\nWhere: Lough Ennel \n\n\n\n\nMeeting point:  Tudenham Shore (Google Maps link: 53°28’03.0″N 7°22’30.6″W) \n\n\n\nWhen: Thursday June 12th \n\n\n\nTime: 7.00pm – 8.30pm \n\n\n\nWho can participate: Open to members of Midlands LGBT+ community living in Westmeath \n\n\n\nAge: Minimum age 18 years old \n\n\n\nCost: €10 total \n\n\n\nThings to know: Please dress appropriately\, but gear and equipment will be available including wetsuits\, wet-socks\, gloves\, buoyancy aid\, paddles\, boards \n\n\n\nThis is a beginner stand up paddleboarding friendly introductory session and you do not need to be a strong swimmer to participate in this course but you should feel comfortable in water with a buoyancy aid. \n\n\n\nSpaces are limited\, so if this is sold out please join the waiting list in case a space becomes available. \n\n\n\nPlease note: if weather conditions are too windy\, backup location will be the Royal Canal with meeting point of Ballinea Harbour

DESCRIPTION:The aim of our CarePALs initiative is to enable care staff to deliver physical activity sessions to those in their care\, which can be included as part of their daily or weekly routines\, without additional costs to the care setting. \n\n\n\nParticipants are not expected to have any background or formal experience in leading physical activities but they will need to have an interest in learning to lead physical activities. DESCRIPTION:MenoWell Westmeath’ is a FREE 6-week online evidence-based exercise\, nutrition\, and health education programme promoting wellness for women in all stages of adult life. This programme is designed to support\, educate\, and empower women in preparation for changes in midlife\, for women experiencing the menopausal transition\, and for supporting women in life after menopause. \n\n\n\nThis programme is starting on Tuesday 29th April 2025 at 8:20pm\, and is aimed at women living in County Westmeath.  \n\n\n\n\n\nProgramme Overview: \n\n\n\n\n2 * 40-minute live online women- and menopause-specific multimodal exercise classes per week – Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8:20pm.\n\n\n\n1 * 30-minute live online women- and menopause-specific health education masterclass per week – Wednesdays at 1pm. Please note\, these are recorded. \n\n\n\nThe health education masterclasses are supplemented with take-home resources including infographics summarising the masterclasses and nutrition recipes. \n\n\n\nAn on-demand library of women- and menopause-specific exercise videos and recorded health education workshops.\n\n\n\n\nThe 40-minute live online exercise classes are instructed in real-time and include a suitable warm up and cool down. These multimodal exercise classes improve your cardiorespiratory fitness\, muscle strength and endurance\, balance\, and flexibility all within the one class! All exercise classes are designed by clinical exercise physiologists specifically for women of all ages and all fitness abilities\, including those living with clinical conditions. The exercise videos included in the on-demand library can be performed at a time and a place most suitable to you\, making it as easy as possible for you to be as fit and as healthy as possible\, anytime\, anywhere. \n\n\n\nThe 30-minute health education masterclasses are delivered by experts via Zoom and focus on different topics relating to women’s health and the menopause journey including muscle\, bone\, and cardiovascular health\, healthy nutrition\, sleep hygiene and self-care. These are recorded so you can watch them back at any time throughout the 6-week programme. \n\n\n\nPlease note\, you will be asked to complete various short-answer questionnaires during this sign-up form and the end of the programme to determine any changes in physical activity participation\, menopausal symptoms (if applicable)\, and wellbeing following the programme.
