Exercise and Nutrition for Perimenopause and Menopause: Moate

A tailored exercise programme targeting issues that arise for women during the menopause transition.

Main issues: The loss of oestrogen & progesterone during the menopause transition can lead to the following challenges:

  • Weight gain particularly visceral fat
  • Loss of muscle mass and loss of bone density
  • Increased risk of osteoporosis
  • Increased risk of heart disease
  • Decreased sleep quality loss of self-esteem & confidence

Exercise programmes that incorporate cardiovascular endurance, muscle strength & endurance, core strength and flexibility have been proven by research to improve many aspects of the above issues:

  • 6 week programme starting Tuesday, February 20
  • Classes take place February 20, 27; March 05, 12, 26 and April 02
  • Tuesday nights 8.00 – 9.00p.m
  • The programme will be delivered by Grace from Westmeath Sports Partnership and My Wellness Transition
  • Aimed at adult women going through perimenopause and menopause
  • The programme will consist of exercise sessions and Nutrition workshops and talks surrounding the topic
  • Please bring a bottle of water and wear comfortable clothes
  • Cost €15

**PLEASE NOTE : We will require a minimum number of participants to facilitate this programme.**
