We’re delighted to publish our July 2025 e-newsletter, highlighting various sports and activity initiatives in County Westmeath. It’s our thirteenth edition, which means we are celebrating our first year of the newsletter. Key highlights from the newsletter include:
- 2025 Club Grants Scheme: Over €30,000 has been allocated to nearly 100 sports clubs across County Westmeath.
- LGBT+ Inclusive Kayaking Course: A new beginner kayaking course, in collaboration with Midlands LGBT+ project, is starting this month on Lough Owel. It is open to LGBTQ+ community members aged 18 and over living in Westmeath, with all gear provided.
- Pitch and Putt Programme: The newsletter features a special video about a four-week Pitch and Putt program delivered for adults with disabilities, in collaboration with Pitch and Putt Ireland.
- Inclusive Summer Camps: Details are provided for inclusive summer camps for children and adults.
- Women on Wheels Programme: The newsletter checks in on the “Women on Wheels” cycling program, led by Lakeside Wheelers Cycling Club
- Road Safety Campaign: Westmeath County Council, Westmeath GAA, LGFA, and Camogie Associations have collaborated on a road safety campaign targeting individuals aged 18-35, a group significantly affected by road traffic incidents.
- IWA Kayaking: The WSP recently teamed up with IWA Athlone to facilitate a Kayak Come and Try session for their Sunshine Club members, emphasizing collaboration and providing valuable opportunities in water sports.
- Sport Ireland + Get Ireland Active Survey: Sport Ireland is requesting all clubs to complete the Get Ireland Active Survey to ensure accurate representation on Ireland’s national database for sport and recreation amenities, increasing club visibility.
