Westmeath Sports Partnership is running two Adult Learn To Kayak courses this summer.

The courses will run for a total of four weeks and are aimed at adults aged 40+.

Two different locations in the county have been selected, with one course taking place at Coosan Point near Athlone, and the other at Mullingar Harbour.

Adult Learn To Kayak- Athlone – SOLD OUT

THIS COURSE IS NOW SOLD OUT.

This four-week Introduction to Kayaking Course for mid-older aged adults (40+) will take place in Coosan Point, Athlone, from 7-9pm on Tuesday June 6th, 13th, 20th and 27th.

This course is for people who want to learn kayaking and paddle skills in a relaxed, social and inclusive environment. The aim is for participants to be introduced to a new activity in a beautiful outdoor setting.

You do not need to be a strong swimmer to participate in this course, but, you should feel comfortable in water with a buoyancy aid.

As there will be limited changing facilities, please wear swimwear under clothing on arrival. Wetsuits are available to use, but, if you have your own you can use this.

All other safety equipment will also be provided including buoyancy aids, helmets, paddles etc. Please ensure you bring old footwear to wear into water, a towel, a drink and sun cream if sunny.

Participants who complete this course will gain the Canoe Ireland Level 1 in Kayaking Skills certification.

Meeting point will be the Car Park at Coosan Point and all sessions will take place at Coosan Point, unless notified otherwise by the instructor or Westmeath Sports Partnership.

This four-week Introduction to Kayaking Course for mid-older aged adults (40+) will take place in Mullingar Harbour, from 7-9pm on Tuesday June 14th, 21st, 28th and July 5th.

This course is for mid-older aged people who want to learn kayaking and paddle skills in a relaxed, social and inclusive environment. The aim is for participants to be introduced to a new activity in a beautiful outdoor setting.

You do not need to be a strong swimmer to participate in this course, but, you should feel comfortable in water with a buoyancy aid.
