Fans of parkrun in Mullingar have had some very exciting news confirmed to them. Our friends in the the Westmeath Examiner are reporting that the green light has been given to hosting a ‘Junior’ Parkrun in the town. This will compliment the very successful adult event.

The Westmeath Sports Partnership has been a long-time supporter of the Parkrun family in Co.Westmeath, and is especially delighted with the news.

We have been very happy to be able to provide some financial assistance to the organisers to make this long-held dream come through. We look forward to seeing more children out and about on Sunday mornings.

The newspaper is reporting that the first event will take place on April 23 next, and will be a 2KM event along the Old Rail Trail.

It’s aimed at children aged between four and fourteen and will start at 9.30am at Newbrook Bridge.

The Mullingar Parkrun is one of the most popular weekly events in the country. It began initially in 2017. Every weekend it has over 100 people who turn up to enjoy a 5Km walk, jog or run at their own pace.
