Under the Community Sports and Sports Inclusion Development Programmes, facilitated by Westmeath Sports Partnership, the Sports Partnership is pleased to announce a course suitable to teachers, service provider staff, youth workers and coaches to attend.

Introduction To Orienteering

Ready to Go Orienteering is an Orienteering Ireland initiative to introduce and promote the sport to schools, disability services and youth organisations. The aim of the course is to train staff with the necessary skills to teach the fundamentals of the sport to their students, service users and participants by upskilling course attendees to:

***Introduce the skills of orienteering in a fun and exciting way***

***For school staff to identify where orienteering can be introduced to the school curriculum***

***Use of games and activity cards to progress participants knowledge and skill set***

On completion of the Ready to Go Course, attending schools, service providers and youth organisations will receive a resource pack consisting of games cards, simple maps and orienteering controls. Online resources will also be provided which can be downloaded and printed. Mapping of facility is an additional cost.

Course Information

Date: : Thursday 30th March.

Time: 10.00am to 3pm (bring a packed lunch)

Venue: Athlone Regional Sports Centre (please note this is an outdoor course so please dress appropriately and wear comfortable footwear).

Cost: €50 per school/organisation

Registration Details: Places allocated on first come basis on completion of registration via Eventbrite, maximum of two participants per school/organisation.
