Mullingar has an unrivalled network of paths and off road walking routes and our new Meet N Walk Group intend to utilise this local resource to the maximum over the coming months. It’s unfortunate that the town has no formal walking club but we hope that this initiative might encourage the creation of one. So what is Meet N Walk??
Meet N Walk is a simple format, where people meet at designated times and as a social group complete a chosen walk. The group is led by a Walk Leader who will, organise the walks, do warm ups, stretching, and warm downs, give advice on fitness topics and healthy lifestyle tips. The Walk Leader will also divide the overall group into smaller groups of similar fitness levels from beginners to regular walkers and will set out a schedule suitable for your needs. So whether you’re a regular walker, or want to start your fitness regime by getting back into walking this Meet N Walk is for you .
The Meet N Walk group will meet at three different times during the week, starting Monday the 5th of November. The Monday morning session is ideal for parents dropping their children to school and buggies are also welcome . The Monday & Wednesday evening sessions are more informal and Olive our voluntary leader will be doing warm ups, stretching and warm downs. The evening sessions are aimed at creating a safe walking group so people, evening during the dark evenings, feel encouraged to go for a walk. The dates and times, starting Monday 5th October and Wednesday 7th October, are as follows
- Monday Morning ¦ 9.30 to 10.30am
- Monday Evening ¦6.00 to 7.00pm
- Wednesday Evening ¦6.00 to 7.00pm
- Venue: The meeting point for all the Meet N Walk activities is the Harbour Place Shopping Centre Overflow Carpark ( entrance off Harbour Street opposite Presentation Senior Primary School)
The Meet N Walk will, if sufficient numbers attend, continue over the winter months on Mondays and Wednesdays so please get your friends, sons, daughters, neighbours, work colleagues etc to join you and make this Walking Group a success.
Walking Routes Maps are provided for each walk and will be left at the Car Park each evening. Here are this weeks walking routes
