Welcome to Westmeath Sports Partnership Disability Sport Section
Welcome to “Disability Sport Westmeath” the new section of the Westmeath Sports Partnership website. This website has been developed as part of the Sports Inclusion Initiative which last year saw the appointment of Mary Duignan as Sports Inclusion Disability Officer (SIDO) for County Westmeath. Mary is one of twenty-one Sports Inclusion Disability Officers who have been appointed nationally through the support of funding provided by the Dormant Accounts and Pobal.
The role of Sports Inclusion Disability Officer is to promote Sport and Physical Activity amongst People with Disabilities in Westmeath and to raise the awareness on the benefits of their participation. The Sports Inclusion Disability Officer aims to work with key stakeholders including local community, voluntary and statutory organisations to help create an environment where everyone is welcomed and valued in sport, irrespective of ability.
